Crosby CHA Club
Formed in 1944, the club has active social and ramble sections.
Social evenings, which include talks and barn dances as well as
socials, are held in the Methodist Church Hall, Moor Lane, Crosby,
Liverpool every Wednesday commencing at 8.00 pm.
Rambles are organised on Sundays approximately every three weeks.
There are three different categories, A, B and C, the distance and
difficulty of each varying according to the type of terrain encountered.
There is also a midweek ramble section that meets each week on
alternate Tuesdays and Thursdays. These walks would approximate
to B category of Sunday walks.
On Sunday rambles, coaches are used picking up at Formby and Maghull
as well as Crosby but on the midweek ones, which are generally within
50 miles of Crosby, walkers make their own travel arrangements using
either cars or occasionally public transport.
Other annual activities of the club include two weekends at CHA,
HF or similar guesthouses or hotels, a backpacking weekend at the
beginning of May, and a camping weekend in July. There is also an
annual photographic competition.
Non-members are most welcome at any of the club’s activities
although it is requested that prospective members attend at least
four rambles and/or four social evenings before applying for election.
