The Hull CHA Rambling Club
The Hull CHA Rambling Club was founded in 1911 and at present we have
a membership of 150, age range 26 to 80 years. The club is affiliated
to the Countrywide Holidays Association and we have the advantage
of their help and advice on safety and first aid matters, and group
third party and member to member insurance cover.
The club organises fortnightly COACH RAMBLES and the party splits
into two groups with organised leaders – the walks are about
(a) 12/14 miles, and (b) 9/10 miles. We carry our own lunch and take
adequate drinks. Walkers should carry waterproof clothing, spare warm
clothing and stout footwear is recommended. Walks are typically in
the North York Moors, the Yorkshire Wolds, Derbyshire Peaks, Pennines
and Yorkshire Dales.
The club also arranges Holiday weeks through Shearings Holidays,
and weekends and long weekends usually in the popular walking areas
of the North of England, the Dales and Lake District. Monthly ambles
are organised in more local areas, own transport is used and the
walks are about 6 miles, easy walking.
There is a social programme which includes the President’s
Dinner Dance, Pie & Pea supper, Barn Dance, Social Evenings
with bar meals, and summer evening strolls.
Club Contacts are General Secretary, Ann Paulls and Rambles Secretary,
Angela Holland.
