CHA - The Countrywide Holidays Association, CHA, is the oldest walking holiday company in the country, set up in 1893 to encourage participation in, and enjoyment of, the countryside. The Association is delighted to announce that from January 2004 Ramblers Holidays became the owners of the Countrywide Holidays walking brand. The Invited Guest Trust - The CHA Invited Guest Trust, IGT, is a charitable organisation supporting people in need of a holiday in the countryside. The CHA and the Invited Guest Trust are transferring their activities into a new body, the Countrywide UK Trust. Countrywide UK Trust - "Encouraging countryside access for all and stimulating a desire to return" For most of us, the countryside is a source of wonder and inspiration, a place for discovery, adventure and enjoyment; yet for some it remains out of reach. The Countrywide UK Trust provides funds so that people, especially the young, have the opportunity to discover and experience our countryside. We focus on helping people, who are disadvantaged, to access and experience the countryside in order that they gain a greater understanding of the countryside and also gain self confidence in an outdoor environment. History of CHA - A wonderful pictorial history of the Countrywide Holiday Association was produced by Robert Speake and tells the story of this remarkable organisation between 1893 - 1993. The book is out of print but due to the huge number of requests for information on the history of the Association, this book has been transferred on to the web. |
